craft in america

Hello peeps,
I am so happy to be sitting down to watch the three part series premiering on PBS tonight in the US called Craft in America. I've got my glass of wine and my hand-sewing ready.

If you live near San Francisco, I also highly recommend an exhibit called "Excavations" at a beautiful new gallery in downtown Oakland called The Johansson Projects. My studio-mate Misa's work is featured there. Here's a bit of what she does:

Amazing stuff.

Cheers, all.

ReadyMade

Hello Friends,
I wanted to let you know I've got a project in this month's ReadyMade Magazine. It's one of the four re-use projects. They asked me to design a pillow cover from recycled materials. The one you see here is made from old linens and sheets.

It was amazingly fun and I really enjoyed working with the awesome Projects Editor, Derek. You can see the cover of this issue here and my little blurb on the contributor's page here.

I'll be posting again this weekend about a fantastic art show I went to yesterday.

Stay tuned and be well.

work from Lovely, Dark and Deep now on sale online

Hello friends,

I am happy to announce that the remaining unsold work from Lovely, Dark and Deep (my most recent installation) is now for sale online here. The photographs of the pieces are a bit cropped, so if you want to know what any of them look like in full, you can check them out here as well. If a piece is not on the Doe site, that means it's already sold.

marci washington

Today I went to visit my local Giant Robot to see Marci Washington's new show hanging there. I love this collection she's done.

Spooky and beautiful all at the same time. Here is my favorite piece of the show that I would've bought had I the money.

And I think it was sold already too. Amazing to see this work in person. The detail and color are impeccable. Recently, I got two prints and a patch by Marci from Tiny Showcase so I have mini-versions of these works which I am looking forward to hanging.

Of course, while I was there at GR I spent some time browsing the books, and I picked up a copy of Barry McGee's beautiful new book and Richard Colman's insanely beyond good monograph. So much to look at now that I'm tempted to call in sick to work tomorrow just to lay on my sofa and look at them.

I also wanted to announce that my shop will be updated tomorrow morning, Thursday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m. with 10 new items. IS UPDATED!! Check it out.

Mo' Magazine

Adorning Adorn

Hello Friends,
I wanted to let you know that I'm in a little feature in Adorn Magazine this month!
I_am_in_this_months_issue
They gave four designers the same bag pattern and the same fabric choices and we each had to give it our own twist. I made a log cabin patchwork version. You can see it here:

It's on news stands now!! And this issue has many really cool articles and features. I can't wait to dive into it tonight!

Cheers and happy weekend.

Hello Friends,
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported my sister and me at our Lovely, Dark and Deep show! We had a fantastic time. Here we are together at the opening party. {Steph's the taller one!}

A few pieces of our work are still available, and will be for sale on the Doe website later this week. I will make an announcement when they are up! Here's a photo of one of the sections of the installation:
