living an inspired life

Hi friends,

You hear a lot about this: "living an inspired life." Even though I wake up cranky everyday because I am not a morning person (my mother says: "don't even bother talking to her for the first hour"), and even though I am as frustrated as the next person with crowds and lines and the government, I do live an inspired life. Which means I walk around most of the time (when it's not morning and I'm not stuck on a crowded subway train) feeling pretty inspired.

I am going to write a bit more now about what inspires me. Here are three things this week:

Getting rid of my car. I donated my old broken down Saab to the San Francisco SPCA and bought a scooter. I walk and ride my bike and scoot around town. Cheaper, better for the environment. And I feel really tough carrying my helmet everywhere.

This work by Hella Jongerius via Vitra Edition.

Have a great week...

I donated my broken down (but much beloved) Saab this year, too. I so wish I lived in San Francisco where replacing him wasn't necessary. Lucky you, it's nice to know you appreciate it!!

It's a shame that you put so much $ into your car only to have it break down permanently. But I know what that's like as my Volvo suffered the same fate.
Looking forward to the SQFT opening.

Congratulations on all your success of late. You have been rawking girl! I've been dreaming of getting a scooter for several years now. I just don't know how they manage in our Chicago winters. I guess I'll have to wait till we buy a villa in Provence to fulfill my scooter-girl dreams!

You inspire me!!

Congratulations on going carfree but scooterfull! My friend Paul in SF adores his scooter...his primary form of transport besides BART and foot.

Just invest in some kickass rain gear and applique some skull and crossbones on them, or something equally fun.

helmets are bad ass! and ah! you're doing a show with ray fenwick! love him, we just commissioned a painting from him a few months ago. yip yip!

I find the fact that you got rid of your car inspiring-- too many people are too dependent on their cars. They'd rather drive than walk even one block. On another note-- it's nice to hear that someone is feeling inspired-- I work in an office where everyone is so uninspired that they start counting the minutes until the weekend the minute they get to work on Monday. Here's to living an inspired life- the most worthy pursuit!

I'm not quite sure if it's available in the U.S. Ikea's, but Hella Jongerius designed a beautiful, big rotund vase for the collection (based in Holland.) I'm sure you would like it.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.
I wanted to let you know I live in Nashville and was so, so, so excited to see that you were in Sq. Ft. gallery this month!!
Were you able to make it to Nashville in person, or did I just miss seeing you at the opening? I couldn't wait to let you know you have fans in Music City! Your work was wonderful none the less.
Alas, we shall have to meet some other day.
Cheers!

Scooters are awesome. I have a dragon red Vespa LX150. I, too, feel extremely tough when I carry my helmet around, especially when I'm wearing my riding boots and touring jacket.
Helmets are great for carrying groceries in, too.
