the art that is my home
Hello friends,
I have been busy at work in the studio this past week, painting many paintings for my upcoming show that opens September 6 here in San Francisco. I know I have been painting a lot because I am running out of tubes of paint!! I have a few more touches to put on a couple, and then I will share some of them with you.
Yesterday I brought my paints home from the studio and spent the day painting a couple pieces in my living room.
i have gotten into the habit of lining up my brushes by size in the last few months because i am doing much more detailed work than I have ever done before with paint, and having different sized brushes organized at my fingertips makes the detailed work less overwhelming for me.
Yesterday I really wanted to hunker down at home because I had just spent several hours cleaning. And I love being in my apartment when it smells good and things are put away. Which isn't consistent. I am not a tidy housekeeper, in general, you see.
My house, while it isn't always neat and tidy, is my own little work of art. Or, at least that's how it feels. When I cleaned this weekend I also worked on my bedroom, which I just painted brown (from kelly green) last month. I finally got around to hanging up some of my favorite objects yesterday above one of my dressers.
A keen eye will notice some ship imagery, some sea life, a stack of flat stones collected at the beach, some religious icons, a small piece of sara paloma pottery, and an original matthew feyld painting, among a few other treasures. These are all things I love. You can see my other dresser here.
I am off to my very last summer painting class. I am sort of sad for it to be ending. Perhaps soon I will show you my favorite piece I made during class. I hope to finish it tonight.
Cheers.

Lovely! I'd love to paint a wall brown sometime...
