I like pretty things.
Hello friends,
Last week my garage was broken into and my bike was stolen. I gave up my car last month, so a bicycle is important to me. I've been eying this bike for a long time, but had no excuse to get it since I already had another bicycle.
I was devastated when my former Bianchi was stolen. But then it only took me a few days to see the bright side of the situation. I need a bike, and now's the time for a Bianchi Milano, my dream bike. I like pretty things, and this bike is pretty.
So today I went and got one at the rad bike shop in my hood. And rode it to the grocery store to get dinner and almost until dark. Until my dream girl shows up, this bike will have to do.
In other news this coming week, I will be the guest blogger on Book By It's Cover, my pal Julia Rothman's blog all about cool art and design books and zines. We share a love of all things visual stimuli and books and she asked me to host for a week. I will be reviewing some of my favorite art and design books starting Monday so please take a peek.
And did I ever tell you that my sister and maria of 3191 did a fantastic interview with Yahoo.com? You can read it over here.
Have a great weekend.

I am thinking about getting that same bike with the step-though frame! My aunt has one and she adores it...

Ohhh pretty. I recently got a Surly Long Haul Trucker. It's a road bike, but any new bike is nice.
I work at a cafe in downtown Ventura, CA and tonight when I went to go clear off some tables outside I could have sworn you were sitting there!! Some woman was wearing a hat very similar to one I have seen you wear in photos, similar haircut, same sort of clothing style, and she had a while Macbook on her lap. Took me a minute to realize it wasn't you, but I almost asked her if her name was Lisa! hah!

Sorry for the break-in. We've had garage break-ins too and it can leave a person feeling violated. I'm glad there was a bright side of it for you.
I've loved that very bike from afar for a long while as well. Unlike you though, I have no justification for it and seeing as we're headed into the long, dark [snowy] months here in MN, I *really* have no justification.

I'm so sorry about your bike but it sounds like you've put the best spin on it. And thank you for sharing the yahoo interview; I'm always curious about the stories behind 3191s photos so it's nice to get a little info.

Hi Lisa,
I've been a great admirer of your work for some time. I checked out your guest blog on Book By Its Cover and love the Japanese Graphic Design Book you mentioned. A few years(!) back, on your birdinthehand blog, you featured another Japanese book about artists and their work spaces. Do you remember the author or title name or still have the cover photo image? I have a Japanese-American friend who visits Japan often and may try to find it for me.
Thank you for your inspiring site & self.
