Richard Colman

Hi there,

I always like to share when I go to an amazing art show, and I did just that Saturday night. It was the opening of a show by Richard Colman at White Walls Gallery here in San Francisco. I first fell in love with Colman's work when I acquired his monograph, I Was Just Leaving, a few months back. I first saw it when I was in a bookstore in New York in April and was entranced.

The show was even more amazing than the book.

His work is so incredibly detailed and meticulous.

Colman's imagery is fantastically dark and in some cases grotesque. I highly recommend his monograph mentioned above as a source for learning more about him and what he paints. I'll be writing a review of this book on my upcoming guest blogger stint over at Book by It's Cover.

It was fantastic. And if you live in San Francisco get over there to see this show while it is still up. You will not regret it.
Bear

Who doesn't love a show in which there is a giant bear holding his own head?

Peace out.
