speed and direction

Hello friends,

One thing I know about the term velocity is that it's all about speed and direction. I opted out of physics in high school. Actually I opted out of all math and science courses that weren't required, and opted into all of the photography and PE courses I could, being somewhat of an artistic jock; weird, I know. Even more weird is that my father is a physicist, but I wont' go into that now. Anyhow...

When John at Velocity Art and Design contacted me to make some art for them, I was pretty excited, because I have loved that shop since I learned of it several years ago. I remember visiting their original Seattle store front in Belltown a few years ago and having heart palpitations because I couldn't handle the visual stimuli. I am doing a series of 10 original pieces (ink drawings on vintage book pages mounted on wood) for their art gallery, which will be available in the store or online this Fall. Here's one of the drawings, yet to be mounted on wood.

I will let you know when they become available for sale. And you might want to click on this bear image for a larger, better view of him.

In other news, check my Etsy Shop for some exciting additions on Thursday at noon, PST.

Have a good day.

Velocity is great - congrats! Does this mean you might be up in the Seattle area at that time?

Oh! This is just divine.

Elizabeth: Nope, it's not a gallery opening. They will just be selling my work. My first solo show every was in Schmancy in Seattle a few years ago. I'd love to do an install up there again sometime!!

Ooh ooh, you should think about doing an install at our shop in Ballard called Velouria if you're looking in the Seattle area.

LOVE your blog! your art is awesome!

This piece looks fantastic...I would love to discuss some drawings going forward for The Shiny Squirrel. Speak to you soon!

I'm really enjoying watching your career develop and seeing all of the new art you're producing and people you're working with. It really gives me hope (as a person who has recently gotten back to art) that there are opportunities out there for people who like making things and don't necessarily have formal training.

Kate: I am interested. Do contact me!!
