around town

Hello friends,

One thing I love about living here in San Francisco are all the wonderful things going on around town, and all the amazing artists who live here, many of whom I call friends.

Last week I ventured out to Rose and Radish, which is just a short walk from Rare Device, to check out the Folklore Exhibit that's on display now. It was so beautiful and Cate and her staff should feel so proud of the gorgeous collection of work they've put together. I bought this sweet journal by Atelier LZC which I adore.

I am a lucky girl because I have very talented and extremely generous friends. This was one of many birthday gifts from my dear, dear amiga, Lorena. It was my favorite piece from her recent exhibition and now it is mine!

Coincidentally, my other close amiga, Diana, also gave me for my birthday my favorite piece from her most recent install. Sigh, yes, it's so good.

Sometimes it pays to let your friends know which pieces of theirs you really admire {smile}.

Yesterday one of my favorite artists Maxwell Loren Holyoke-Hirsch {and now friend} brought over some work to Rare Device. You can read about those pieces and how to purchase them here.

Last but not least {and I will be posting more about this event early this coming week} I wanted to remind all of you local folks to set aside February 1 to come on over to Rare Device for the opening of Everything, a joint installation from Shauna and Stephen of Somethings Hiding in Here. It's going to be fantastic, and you can see images of their prep for the show here.

Deep breath, now, as I prepare to head into my office, which is  a complete disaster area, and start to get organized for the new year. Wish me luck.

Cheers.

you made my week with that rose and radish link... so much to see and so little time. can i get myself a valentine gift? why not!

I'm doing major cleaning right now too. I love the feeling of sweeping out the past and opening up space for new opportunities.

I have spent the week organizing one room every other night. it's been manageable and has made quite the difference!

thanks for the links about town. I moved away from SF after living there for years and I really miss it.

I'm new to your blog but I'll be around awhile!!
