sucked into the vortex
Hello friends,
That's right, it's been one of those weeks when I've been sucked into the vortex of constant activity. Between evenings out for friends' birthdays (late ones), prepping for openings (mine and one at Rena's and my shop), shipping my own work out to buyers, prepping my sales tax return, cleaning sheets that have been peed on by small dog, getting ready for my trip to NY, e-t-c-e-t-e-r-a, I have had very little sleep or down time. I blurted to Rena just the other day I LOVE MY LIFE. But this week is just a wee bit too intense for me. I've have that sort of "what am I forgetting to do/say/call at this moment" feeling inside all week.
All of that said, I do work well under pressure (though I do not think it's a healthy way of life, so good thing every week is not like this). Saturday I leave for New York to go to my first NYIGF (that's New York International Gift Fair) on a buying trip with Ms. Rena for Rare Device. I am beyond excited, more about going to NY than the Gift Show per se, but being away from dog/home/store/studio for the week means lots of prep in advance. One impending deadline for the week was the postcard for my next opening in a month (ack) in Portland. The show is called TIny Souvenirs and it'll be at Redux in Portland. Yesterday morning after dropping my work at Swallowtail for tomorrow's opening, I came back to the studio to work on this piece and finish this postcard so I could get it off to the printer.
For all you Portlanders, I will be coming up for the opening, and I hope to see you there. More on this new body of work when I get back from NY.
At this moment I must get out of bed and get dressed for the day. Today it's all about getting Shauna and Stephen started on their install at Rare Device. Their show opens Friday and is going to be insanely good. Local peeps, please come to the opening party.
Lastly, I want to say thank you to Eleni my intern, who just started working for me a month ago, and who is so amazing and gracious. I could not get everything done without her, and she has been so awesome the past two weeks driving my ass around town for all my errands and helping me in the studio to boot. More on the awesomeness of Eleni later.
Okay, do you think that post was long enough? I do. So I am off now.
Cheers.

Gorgeous piece, Lisa.
Good luck as you un-suck yourself from that vortex...hopefully! =)
