I love Raymond Carver. Underwriting is such an underrated skill. (And Robert Altman's "Short Cuts," based on his stories, is one of my favorite movies.)
looks like a Rilke lover--i have his Selected Poetry on the table now (Steven Mitchell translation)... he is one of the greatest writers/teachers... he trembles almost as if he were not of this world, and not of the misted intelligence, either.
I have a very old copy of The Well of Lonliness (a favourite of mine) that I brought in a little crooked bookshop in Rye just a few doors down from where Radclyffe lived. I'll always treasure it. It's travelled all over with me until ending up here in New Zealand.

When I ended high-school, my philosophy teacher gave me an excerpt from Rilke's "On Love and Other Difficulties", and I remember it to this day...
